| Robert Lyn Nelson and Our Oceans |
|
||||||
| In July of 2008, our guests had a rare chance to meet the internationally collected master artist, Robert Lyn Nelson. Robert flew in from Maui for the event, bringing with him his own portfolio of original oil paintings, charcoal drawings and artist enhanced giclees.
On this special evening, our sister company Master Communication helped our oceans by purchasing and auctioning one of Robert's hand-enhanced limited-edition giclées live on eBay. Over $700 was donated to the Surfrider Foundation, a respected charity involved in water conservation and awareness. Many thanks go to The Whale and Ale, who provided appetizers and wine for the event. Also contributing were The Henry Wine Group and Off the Vine, the home of fine wine tasting in San Pedro. ...... more |

Sunset visits San Pedro | ||||||
| From Sunset Magazine "At the very south end of Los Angeles, the harbor town of San Pedro is undergoing a sea change. Lower rent and plenty of space in appealing buildings have drawn both emerging and established artists into an Old Town that is simultaneously bohemian and neighborly. Los Angeles' SoHo? It's getting there."

What an exciting weekend! It started a bit early, on the First Thursday in San Pedro. Fifi and I and a few of our fabulously wealthy art-buying friends went on down the hill to the San Pedro art walk. ||||||
| Medea Gallery was honored to present a rare glimpse at one of the few collections to be shown in Los Angeles of contemporary Australian Aboriginal Art. The exhibit was on display from March 6th – May 30th, 2008.
The exhibition featured vibrant works from the Kimberly and Central Desert regions, personally selected by Sherry Thompson. These works exemplified centuries-old legacies combined with modern personal interpretations. Characterized by intricate patterns of finely drafted layers of dots and bold brushstrokes, the art makes use of a wide range of earth tones ground from natural ochre and brightly colored acrylic pigments. ...... more |

Manzo at Medéa | ||||||
| Medéa Gallery hosted the works of Leandro Manzo at a reception on April 3rd, 2008 from 6-9 PM at Medea Gallery in historic old town San Pedro.
Manzo’s original acrylics on canvas are reminiscent of the Magical Realism found in Argentina’s modern literature movement - illogical scenarios being described as everyday or normal. His cityscapes currently on display at Medea Gallery depict the motion and sweeping grandeur of Buenos Aires and Los Angeles, but could stand for any city in this urban time. Since his first exhibition at age 13 under the guidance of Aldo Sevri, Director of the Museo de Artes Visuals de Quilmes in Buenos Aires, Manzo has been shown extensively in the US and internationally. His work is included in many museum and private collections, in Southern California most notably the Museum of Latin American Art (MOLAA.) ...... more |

To bring you up to speed, a Canadian collector of Ray's work wanted to make his new BMW-R1200C unique. To make the dream a reality, he turned to Ray, sent him the BMW's body parts - and let him loose on the project. Regarding the design, it is an one of a kind paint scheme, Ray points out "I wanted to make sure it would be very arty!". Now the artwork is completed, Ray has joined other BMW "art car" painters including David Hockney, Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein and Alexander Calder, who in the past, have all used these "ultimate driving machines" as canvases for their creations. ...... more |
